Dear Beloved Congregation,
The weeks seem to be flying by at such a pace that it seems as if it was yesterday that I last communicated with you. I love doing this blog and keeping you informed of all the happenings in our little community. So much is happening, exciting stuff that affects us all. I will get to that in a bit.
The way we worship is important to our relationship with our Father God and music plays an important part of who we are as a worshipping community. We are so blessed to have the cream of the crop who lead our worship and so I want to just take a moment to say thank you to Helena Monk, Marion Forsyth, Rose Graham, Juan Smith and Slade van Rooyen who lead us upwards each week. Helena has led us in worship for over 50 years and is in semi-retirement now, well deserved I would say. Thank you, Helena, for your amazing dedication. To the others, thank you for always being so willing to serve, sometimes at a moment’s notice. Our Father sees your hearts and is well pleased.
Listen to these words from an earthly saint, Father Desmond Tutu, he says and I quote…
“We were made to enjoy music, to enjoy beautiful sunsets, to enjoy looking at the billows of the sea and to be thrilled with a rose that is bedecked with dew. Human beings are actually created for the transcendent, for the sublime, for the beautiful, for the truthful and all of us are given the task of trying to make this world a little more hospitable to these beautiful things.”
Creation is busy worshipping the creator and so should we!
Our church is open once again and you are welcome back to worship together. I have had the hall deep cleansed, the sanitizer is ready, our chairs are properly spaced, all that is missing is you. So, come and join on Sunday which also happens to be St Valentines day, just saying…
Please be ready with your Communion elements this Sunday, we will be celebrating the Eucharist meal together.
Our Easter services begin on 17th February, Ash Wednesday. We will meet in our newly renovated church for this service, please note that it will not be live streamed. I have in mind a peaceful encounter with God for us all.
We will celebrate Palm Sunday on the 28th March at 09h00 in our hall. This will be streamed live.
Good Friday is on 2nd April at 09h00 in the hall. This will also be streamed live. Easter Sunday begins at 06h00 on Leisure Isle with our Sunrise service. Bring a chair, torch, some hot cross buns and coffee and a willing heart. We will greet the new dawn as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection. We will continue at 09h00 in the hall as we serve a Risen Saviour. The latter will be live-streamed.
Regarding our OUTREACH program; we’re busy painting and preening up ‘Granny’s Attic’. Making her look pretty and smart. She will open officially on Monday March 1st. If you have any gently used items that you wish to donate, be it clothing or bric-a-brac, we will willingly take it off your hands, price it responsibly and sell it to help us in all our feeding and charity programs. Our community garden will be laid out hopefully next week. We look forward to the fruitfulness of these new ventures. If you would like to offer some time to help, please contact us, we are in this together. We thank our generous doners for your help in getting these projects of the ground.
Please also note that our Pop-Up Singing Kettle shop is open for business. Come in and browse our lovingly made products on offer [reasonable priced]. If you would like to contribute, you are most welcome and thank you in advance.
All that remains is for me to say that I love you all dearly and miss you a lot. May God continue to bless us all, as God has in the past as we worship and serve Him and each other in love.
May Blessings Abound,
Rod
