And (Jesus) took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.’ Luke 22:19-20
Today you are invited to consider how holy the sacrament of Holy Communion is for you personally. How do you feel when you take it? Where is Jesus for you at the moment you eat the bread and drink the wine? How does the act change your life? Or does it? Ask God to help you, next time you take Communion, to understand with fresh understanding just what it means to eat this meal ‘in remembrance.’ Think about each morsel and each drop. Ask Jesus to be there and open your heart and mind to His presence. Tell Him about how you feel.
May God bless you with a rich awareness of His presence as you share His meal with others in the days ahead.
