(Zechariah) was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. …Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. … Zechariah asked the angel, ‘How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.’ Luke 1:9, 11, 18
Today you are invited to consider the reaction of Zechariah to the angel’s visit when he was alone in the temple. How do you react when God sends you a messenger or a promise that seems unlikely? Do you dismiss it or accept it? What promises has God made to you in the past that have been fulfilled or are still to come to fruition? What promise are you waiting to be fulfilled at the moment? If you are not sure, ask Him what promise He has for you. If you know and have been waiting for a long time, tell Him how you feel and what you hope for. What does He reply to any of your answers? Make a note in a journal to remind you in the coming year and praise Him for His promises and their fulfilment.
May God bless you with His faithfulness today and in the days ahead.
