In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. Luke 1:26-27
Today you are invited to consider how you would feel about Mary’s story of the angel if someone came to you this morning and told you a seemingly unbelievable story like the one Mary must have told her family. What would your reaction be? How would you respond to such a tale? Would you be quick to judge, to dismiss, to reject? Or would you be willing to sit and listen? To try to understand? To love? The events of our lives may not be as dramatic as the event which happened in Mary’s life, but often people need someone to be there for them. Mary had Joseph and then Elizabeth. Who do you have? Who would feel free enough to come to you?
May God bless you with a non-judgemental heart and a capacity to love whatever the situation.
