You are Invited : Exodus 12

Sunday 3 October 2021 was celebrated worldwide as International Holy Communion Day. The Last Supper, which we are commanded to share in memory of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross had its origins in the Passover meal, which was celebrated for the first time on the night before the Jewish slaves were led out of Egypt by God.

On that same night, they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs and bread made without yeast … The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. … This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord – a lasting ordinance. Exodus 12: 8, 13,14

Today you are invited to consider when you first shared in the meal of holy communion. How old were you? What did you understand about it? What did it mean to you? How did you feel when you first ate the bread (the Lamb of God) and drank the wine (the blood of Christ)? How did it affect your relationship with Jesus? Remember these things today and be thankful. What do you want to tell Jesus about the memories you have of that time?

May God bless you with His love as you consider Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross for you
